All weekend, the weather was awesome. Flat, sunny and warm, and pretty, clear water. It was great weather to be boating! Water temperatures that were below the 70 F mark a week ago had warmed up to 74 F. The snapper at the close rigs that were so voracious before season openned are now more elusive (or in the freezer).
Jason ran as far out as 25 miles and was catching the occasional Grouper, Mangrove snapper, Lane snapper, a few Red Snapper, and picked up a King.
Bill ran to the close rigs looking for Sheepies again. We could see big schools of both Sheepshead and Spadefish, but none were interested in eating. Trolled the beach off DI and didn't do any better. It may be time to follow Jasons lead and start running deeper.
